GREAT TASTING SNACKS FOR THE ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS KIWI

The Good team have been chowing down on Upcycled Grain Project Grain Crisps crafted from ‘rescued’ spent brewers grain from the beer-brewing process.

We can totally see why these sustainably delicious snacks were a sell-out at the recent Wellington Food Show. We were interested to learn that when making beer, brewers steep malted barley to give body and flavour. They keep the liquid to make the beer and discard the grain. These grains are sugar-free, packed full of protein and fibre and incredibly flavoursome. Upcycled Grain Project ‘rescue’ these grains and have paired them with 100 per cent natural ingredients to produce a range of delicious and nutritious snacks.

Upcycled Grain Project owner, Jan Meyer, says sustainable and upcycled products are the way forward and consumers are wanting to see changes made.

“Upcycled Grain Project products are for people making lifestyle changes, purchasing products that reduce food waste, energy consumption and resource depletion,” says Meyer. “Our range helps them achieve this without sacrificing anything. They can pick up a box knowing they are having delicious crisps and helping the environment.”

They come in four intriguing flavour combinations – Fig and Cardamom, Cranberry and Coconut, Raisin and Rosemary and Orange and Sesame. Serve with platters, top with cheese or enjoy solo.
