A good gut feeling

Feel good from the inside out with Living Goodness fermented foods.

The act of fermenting foods has been around for centuries – some forms of fermentation dates back to 10,000 BCE. One of our favourite fermented foods, sauerkraut, is believed to have started in China more than 2,000 years ago.

Why has it remained so popular? As well as being a way to preserve food and bring out unique flavours, fermented foods are associated with a range of health benefits thanks to being rich in beneficial probiotics.

Made from fermented shredded cabbage, sauerkraut has health benefits far beyond that of fresh cabbage. Ideal for cooler months, it’s a high source of vitamin C and iron, along with other immunity-boosting probiotics and nutrients. The tasty condiment has also been shown to improve digestion, reduce bloating and constipation, lower stress levels and maintain brain health. Put simply, it’s raw fermented goodness for a good gut feeling! The same goes for kimchi and coleslaw: the gut-friendly nutrients and probiotics found in both fermented dishes can suppress inflammation and strengthen the immune system.

Bottled in various-sized jars, fermented foods from Living Goodness makes it easy to add these health benefits to your daily diet.

With seven delicious flavours on o er, there are plenty of options to suit di erent taste buds and dishes. The colourful Living Goodness coleslaw, Quick Draw Slaw, with its addition of celeriac, ginger, chilli, garlic, celery and caraway seeds is a delicious accompaniment to chicken and barbecue meats, or even in a sandwich. To add to a side of seafood or in a salad, the Super Superkraut has an abundance of fermented cabbage along with seaweed, kale and a pinch of Himalayan salt. Yum! And beetroot lovers will want to try the Heartbeet Kraut: cabbage and beetroot fermented to perfection for a tangy taste and sweetness that will only leave you wanting more.

Avid fans of “krautifying” their meals, the Living Goodness team also love adding some “fermented flair” to the likes of beef tacos, nourish bowls, crispy tofu and prawn spicy noodles, burgers, and even chocolate cake!

“Yes, you heard us correctly! Sometimes we even krautify our sweet treats. We generally only try this with our Heartbeet Kraut as it’s sweet enough to mix well, has a gorgeous colour that it adds to everything, and there are plenty of baking recipes out there already using beetroot,” says Living Goodness co-founder Fiona Dykes.
