A FOCUS ON FOOTWEAR

DEADLY PONIES debuts their first complete footwear collection this autumn with responsibly crafted pieces made from quality leather in classic styles designed to be cherished, year after year.

Styles include a Rider boot, Chelsea boot and Kaze boot (pictured, right).

We also want to give a big shout out to Kiwi eco footwear brand ORBA – maker of the world’s first sneaker designed to biodegrade.

The B Corp-certified footwear brand hails from Kāpiti and is committed to crafting its shoes from natural, 94 per cent plant-based, biodegradable materials.

Globally, more than 20 billion shoes are produced annually, and once eventually disposed of can last up to 1,000 years in landfill.

Meanwhile, the newest shoe from ALLBIRDS, the Riser, represents an evolution in the design direction for the eco footwear brand. Its addition to their product portfolio fills a gap in the market for fashionable sneakers, crafted in a sustainable way. It’s also the first shoe from Allbirds to feature a multi-material upper and is one of the brand’s most stylish silhouettes yet.

Another recent addition to the Allbirds portfolio is the Plant Pacer, using 100 per cent plastic-free plant leather. Unlike other leather-like materials, it’s 100 per cent plastic-free, 100 per cent vegan, and only contains natural materials such as rubber, plant oils, and agricultural by-products.

NEW BALANCE is also coming to the party with its green leaf standard. Shoes that meet this standard have an upper made of 50 per cent or more recycled content, and at least one midsole/outsole material contains a minimum of 3 per cent bio-based or

5 per cent recycled content.
