CURRENCY THAT CAN ONLY BE SPENT ON OTHERS

When it comes to donating to good causes, Kiwis are generous, but their bank balance often doesn’t allow it – particularly as the cost of living rises.

Vodafone’s digital charity platform One Good Kiwi aims to change that.

One Good Kiwi (OGK) users do not have to be Vodafone customers. All you need to do is download the app and choose how to distribute the $1.2 million that will be donated each year via the app to support positive change for rangatahi (young people).

Every month $100,000 is ‘dropped’ on the platform and each OGK user receives tokens to vote on how that money is donated. ‘Swipe’ through ten charities per month, learn about them and vote for your favourite with your tokens. The $100,000 will be split between the charities, based on how many tokens they receive, with each charity receiving at least $1,000. The first charities to take part include Spirit of Adventure, Lads Without Labels, Blake NZ, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Youthline.
