The creative minds behind Auckand’s The Hotel Britomart have worked their magic on Kings Plant Barn’s newly opened sustainable garden centre at Stonefields. Setting a new standard and experience for plant buying in New Zealand, as well as trialling new ways to connect people with plants, the store includes nd a recycling station where customers can swap old plant pots and return soft plastics from in-store, a DIY terrarium bar where you can make your own terrarium, a potting up area where you can learn to pot or repot plants, a café featuring a seasonal menu focusing on locally grown produce and root to stem dishes, an all-weather children’s playground made from sustainable and recycled materials and a drive-through collection point. Environmentally-friendly features include low-embodied building materials, locally made fixtures that use sustainable timber, solar panels, irrigation systems that incorporate water reuse and new plastic recycling initiatives, including a partnership with Future Post. kings.co.nz
